Fans for Air make Up and Exhaust are quite often a difficult product to find when designing a simple ducted local exhaust system.

Here we offer a variety of "LEV" (Local Exhaust & Ventilation) fans specifically designed to meet the demands of such systems.


These Fans are able to handle specific applications such as:

- Corrosive fumes
- Abrasive dusts
- Proper flow and static pressure for a particular application

(13-01) LD Direct Drive - Self Cleaning Wheels - Inverter Duty - (1,000 - 21,000 CFM)
Direct Drive Fans, Arr. #4 c/w punched flanged outlet, slip fit inlet, motor, motor mounting support and drain. Motors are TEFC E-Pact 230-460V/575-600V/3/60/-3500 RPM. Wheels are heavy gauge, single thickness, backward inclined, dynamically balanced to ANSI S2.19-1989 specifications for smooth operation.

(13-07) Non Tempered (Neither heated or cooled) Make-Up Air - Low Cost Make Up Air - (5,000 - 30,000 CFM)
LEV-CO’s Non-Tempered Air Make-Up Systems replaces exhausted air more efficiently and with more comfort than conventional Air Make-Up air systems. Ideal for production facilities that generate heat, for example welding shops where welding processes generate up to 450,000 BTU per hour per welder.

TNon-Tempered units are grouped into 2 different types:

A - 100% Outdoor Air: These units draw outside air and consist of a simple Axial fan, motorized inlet damper, Insulated cabinet and flow straightener.

B - Modulating units – 0-100% Outdoor air: these units draw a variable amount of outside air from outside and when the internal temperature drops below the customer’s set point (EG: 70 degrees F) the THERMOSTAT controlled modulating air-mixing system allows air to be drawn from OUTSIDE or INSIDE in order to maintain desired indoor temperature. This solution is most often selected when the production level cannot be guaranteed or additional heat sources are not available.

Both solutions are aided by custom engineered flame retardant fabric distribution ducting, where we able to take advantage of the STRATIFIED heat in ceiling, creating the equivalent of lowering a conventional thermostat by ½ degree F per foot of ceiling height or provide MAKE-UP without additional heat.

This is accomplished by discharging the air in HIGH velocity air jets as close to the ceiling as possible. The result of the mixing is that the fresh air is heated to room temperature very quickly before it reaches the lower occupied area. This is extremely effective in welding shops where each welder can generate as much as 450,000 BTU per hour in heat.

This “De-Stratifying” air distribution method has the added benefit of diluting and cooling any “Fugitive emissions/smoke” in the ceiling space and allows this air to be drawn down to floor level where it can be filtered and or exhausted by local exhaust ventilation systems.

When no fresh air is needed, the system can be shut down and the outside air dampers will close automatically or the system can be run on one hundred percent (100%) re-circulated air.

Conversely, if cooling air is required, “Bi-Flex” ducting can be selected (Optional). Bi-Flex ducting allows the air to continue to be exhausted into the ceiling space in the winter months AND then be re-directed downwards to the workers in summer months. This method leaves the bulk of the hot air in the ceiling space and places high velocity cooling air towards the worker. (The velocity shall not be high enough to disturb welding gases/processes).

The variable flow control allows to create a controlled variable flow for virtually any exhaust system. The VFC kit also creates the possibility to upgrade regular exhaust systems (constant flow systems) to controlled variable flow system

Lev-co’s LEVEL 1 VFD system allows for simple VFD speed control, acceleration and deceleration and sound level management for all of Lev-co's exhaust and filtration solutions.
  • FUNCTION:

    1 - The fan is activated by a small local control panel.

    2 – Acceleration and deceleration settings can be programmed into the VFD in order to eliminated "Peak" demand charges and feedback from the motor.

    3 – As required, the flow rate can be increased and decreased according to the demand required by the application.

    4 – Additionally, great reductions in sound level can be achieved by adjust the flow

    (13-13) VFD System with Manual Dampers and Pressure Transmitter - Type 2
    Lev-co’s LEVEL 2 VFD system allows for “On-Demand” flow control of an exhaust fan for industrial ventilation applications.

    FUNCTION:

    1 - The fan is first activated by an "Optional" switch attached to the damper, hose reel, hose drop, current sensor*, etc. When this switch closes the fan turns on.

    2 – Once the damper in the 1st drop opens, a digital pressure transmitter senses the pressure in the main duct downstream of the fan and allows the VFD to actively control motor speed as a function of duct (negative) pressure.

    3 – As more dampers are opened and closed the fan speed increases and decreases in order to provide the required flowrate at each drop. This permits constant, effective exhaust at a target duct pressure no matter how many dampers are open or closed. Flow "On Demand"

    4 – The fan turns off when the last operator has no more demand

    The following components are included in this “Level 2” VFD solution:

  • VFD (Variable Frequency Drive)IP65
  • Control Panel IP65 c/w with the following components:
