#08 - Dust, Fume & Vapor Control Booths

Environmental Control Booths allow operators to work on a variety of components while assuring worker comfort and visibility within the critical area. These solutions also ensure that the "dust produced within the booth... stays in the booth..."

Some important points to consider when purchasing:

  • How large does the booth have to be?
  • Is the air speed through the work zone high enough to protect the
    worker?
  • What is the noise level? (inside and outside the booth)
  • Will it stand up to your environment (Eg: is it made from Plastic or Steel?)
  • Filter cleaning: is it easy to clean? Does the filter cleaning system really work?
  • What will be my filter costs per year (in welding you can use lbs of welding wire…)
  • What is the filtration efficiency

  • Are there any tertiary risks such as fire, explosion, etc?

Here are some general design velocities when using "Enclosing" Hoods:

Dust, Fume and Vapour Control Booths:
  • Minimum Face Velocity 100 FPM
  • Transport Velocity 100 FPM

(08-03) Panel Booth - Light dust & Volatile Organic Compounds - Booth sizes to suit & flow to suit
The DUSTRON PANEL BOOTH is the first dust booth to implement the innovative regain of air principle, increasing worker comfort and visibility in the critical work areas.

Capitalizing on the multiplied ventilation effect of "pushing" clean air out across the front of the booth as the blower "pulls" contaminated air into the filters, the Dustron provides velocities of 400/800 FPM at the center zone of the booth where the dust is being generated.

With the fully adjustable Push/Pull Regain Air, the Dustron enhances the conditions and productivity of operations within the booth.

    Powerful Performance

Every feature of the dust collection section of the Dustron PANEL BOOTH system is designed for efficiency:

  • High Capture Velocity: Fully adjustable Regain Air for working area velocities of 400+ FPM.

  • High Performance Blowers: Low speed, high flow blowers have airfoil blades for high fan efficiency as well as low noise.

  • Efficient Filtration: Panel filters that are available in the highest degrees of efficiency for both particulate and gas phase contaminants

  • Noise Control

The Dustron has built-in sound absorption benefiting the workers inside as well as outside the booth:

  • Solid Construction. Standard booth built with 18 gauge steel walls and ceiling.

  • Advanced Core Insulation. Sound-absorbing mats of two-inch fiberglass compressed to one inch.

  • Outer Layer. Further enhancement of sound attenuation with 5 mil aluminized vinyl-impregnated fiberglass cloth covering of mat.

  • Enhanced Work Environment

The Dustron is designed to provide optimal conditions for large industrial operations where dust and/or noise are a problem.

  • Freedom of Movement. The capture velocity provided throughout the booth means that workers are not "tied" to a limited surface space, source capture arm, or vacuum hose.

  • Visibility. The Dustron's effective source capture of smoke, fumes, and dust provides consistent visibility in the work areas of the booth. In addition the Dustron is well-lit with sealed and gasketed dust-tight fluorescent lights.

  • Safety/Productivity. Many dust booths provide containment without achieving effective environmental control within the booth. The Dustron is designed to effectively capture contaminants for the comfort and health of the booth workers.

  • Multiple Applications

The Dustron Panel Booth has been built around the variables that go into dealing with a variety of airborne contaminants and applications. Instead of building booths that are “Application Specific” the Dustron Panel booth has been designed to suit multiple applications by simply installing filters that match the application:

  • Simple Maintenance. Filters are easy to change and in some cases washable.

  • Energy Efficient. By selecting filter with the lowest pressure drop available, substantial energy savings can be achieved.

  • Simple Change-out. As applications change, the filters can be changed accordingly, this allows the booth to be used for different applications during it’s life span.

(08-05) Hydrotron Booths - Explosive dusts - Booth sizes to suit & flow to suit
The Filter 1 Hydrotron Control Booth, integrating the booth enclosure and wet dust collection, is a safe and economic method of cleaning potentially volatile materials. The Hydrotron HPBs are generally used for working on large objects that won't fit on a table, or for multiple table top operations where several operators will be in the booth at the same time. These wet dust collection booths meet OSHA and NFPA guidelines for dust collectors located inside the building, allowing recirculation of in-plant, tempered air to conserve energy. The units remove heavy sparks from grinding and gouging, and filter repirable dust and contaminates from sanding, deburring, buffing, packaging, and processing. The HPB series features a minimum of 300 FPM in the work zone, sound attenuating interior surfaces, and flourescent lighting with dust tight lens. The booths are equipped with the Regain Air, "Push/Pull" technology pioneered by Filter 1 to increase capture velocity, up to 800 FPM in the "breathing zone." The Mark II Serie are designed to be located against the wall, so the access to the units is from inside of the booth.
