#04 - Dust & Fume Filters - Centrally Ducted


Centrally Ducted Dust Collectors such as these are ideal for large shops and centrally ducted applications. Most of these solutions are based upon self-cleaning filter cleaning systems to help reduce filter costs. In addition, Water based filtration systems are available for certain explosive and flammable applications

Some important points to consider when purchasing:

  • What is the Total Flow Rate? (Add up all the inlets that will run at once)
  • What is the exact resistance (filter and duct losses) required for the fan to overcome?
  • Do I have enough filter media (Air to cloth ratio) in the collector?
  • Will it stand up to your environment (Eg: is it made from Plastic or Steel?)
  • Filter cleaning: Does the filter cleaning system really work in your application?
  • What will be my filter, maintenance and energy costs per year?
  • Are there any tertiary risks such as fire, explosion, etc, that I need to consider?

    This unit has been designed to be placed outside including having the top panels angled to shed water. An access panel has been added to both sides of the clean air plenum to allow for easier maintenance on the block-off components, if needed. The cabinet also has a modular design to support multiple module units (DC-36, DC-54, etc.)

    (04-07) HWF Wet Collector - Explosive Dusts - Self cleaning filter system built in - 1,000 to 15,000 CFM
    HYDROTRON Water Filter Dust Collectors purify air by a combination of centrifugal force and violent mixing of water and contaminated air. As the air stream passes the fixed baffles, particulate is separated by heavy, turbulent curtain of water created by high velocity air. The centrifugal force caused by the rapid changes in airflow direction forces the dust particles to penetrate the water droplets and become entrapped. Contaminated water is then removed from the airstream by special mist filters. Dust, as sludge, settles to the collector bottom and the water is reused.

    The HYDROTRON is specifically designed for safe collection of potentially explosive and volatile materials and is effective in the capture of fine metal particles. It meets the National Fire Protection Association guidelines for processing and finishing aluminum. Since the Hydrotron also meets OSHA and NFPA regulations for dust removal located inside buildings, it can recirculate in-plant, tempered air to conserve energy.

    (04-12) LEV-SCS Series Bag Housing Collectors
    The dust is drawn into the dust collector, where the velocity of the dust is reduced. The heaviest particles fall directly into the hopper, while the finest particles are drawn into the interior surface of the bags. The air coming through the bag is now clean, and can be recirculated within the plant or discharged outside.

    (13-13) VFD System with Manual Dampers and Pressure Transmitter - Type 2
    Lev-co’s LEVEL 2 VFD system allows for “On-Demand” flow control of an exhaust fan for industrial ventilation applications.

    FUNCTION:

    1 - The fan is first activated by an "Optional" switch attached to the damper, hose reel, hose drop, current sensor*, etc. When this switch closes the fan turns on.

    2 – Once the damper in the 1st drop opens, a digital pressure transmitter senses the pressure in the main duct downstream of the fan and allows the VFD to actively control motor speed as a function of duct (negative) pressure.

    3 – As more dampers are opened and closed the fan speed increases and decreases in order to provide the required flowrate at each drop. This permits constant, effective exhaust at a target duct pressure no matter how many dampers are open or closed. Flow "On Demand"

    4 – The fan turns off when the last operator has no more demand

    The following components are included in this “Level 2” VFD solution:
