Extraction Arms

Capture at Source Extraction Arms are used to capture airborn contaminants before the contaminants have a chance to reach the workers' breathing space

Available in several different designs:
  • internally supported
  • externally supported
  • telescopic
  • mild or stainless steel construction
Lengths: Up to 45'

Diameters to suit Application: 2.5" through 8"

Typically the Extraction Arms are connected to a fixed extraction fan, Filter system or dust collector via direct mounting or a "Header Type" duct system.

Here are some questions you may want to consider when selecting an extraction arm:
  1. Is there any requirement Image (Good Looks)?
  2. What is the Budget $?
  3. Is it important for the product to be Ergonomically/easy to position?
  4. Is it important for the product to be Move into place and Stay in place (without additional process such as tightening joints)?
  5. What is the Diameter?
  6. Chemical resistivity for external components?
  7. Is there any requirement for Chemical resistivity for internal components?
  8. What is the Transport velocity to be maintained?
  9. What is the Noise level (Air noise generated as Air passes through the arm)?
  10. What is the Lbs of force required to position into place?
  11. What is the acceptable Flow rate and pressure drop?
  12. Range of motion (Does it move to where they the arm to move and will they arm stay in this position.)?
  13. Does the build up of contaminant on the internal surface of the extraction arm cause concern?
  14. Do we need to meet any codes (EG: Fire (Transport/Flammability, Explosivity, etc.)
  15. Are there any issues related to the build up of static electricity that should be mitigated?




Portable

Portable Dust & Fume Filter Units. Quite often “Clean Air” solutions are required throughout a work place. These units can be easily moved from location to location with ease while capturing dust and fumes where needed.

Various Options in Filtering Systems Available:
  • Washable Filters
  • Cleanable Filters
  • Self-Cleaning Systems
  • Throw Away Filters
All Units equipped with fan/motor assemblies to ensure adequate extraction at all times

Some important points to consider when purchasing:
  1. How easy is the unit too move?
  2. Is it easy to use?
  3. Does it fit through small doorways and between tables, etc…?
  4. Will it stand up to your environment (Eg: is it made from Plastic or Steel?)
  5. Filter cleaning: is it easy to clean? Does the filter cleaning system really work?
  6. What will be my filter costs per year (e.g. in welding you can use how many lbs of welding wire…)
  7. Do you need unit for Maintenance or Production Application?

Centrally Ducted

Centrally Ducted Dust Collectors such as these are ideal for large shops and centrally ducted applications. Most of these solutions are based upon self-cleaning filter cleaning systems to help reduce filter costs. In addition, Water based filtration systems are available for certain explosive and flammable applications

Some important points to consider when purchasing (please do your best to answer as many of these as you can):
  • What is the exact process?
  • How is the emission released into the workplace?
  • Does the contaminant have velocity when released from the process?
  • Have you thought of any specific methods of capturing the contaminant ?
  • Have you used that method of capture before? If so, did you like it or would you prefer something different.
  • Are you looking at a centrally ducted system or per workstation?
  • What is the Total Flow Rate? (Add up all the inlets that will run at once)
  • What is the exact resistance (filter and duct losses) required for the fan to overcome?
  • Do I have enough filter media (Air to cloth ratio) in the collector?
  • Will it stand up to your environment (Eg: is it made from Plastic or Steel?)
  • Filter cleaning: Does the filter cleaning system really work in your application?
  • What will be my filter, maintenance and energy costs per year?
  • Are there any tertiary risks such as fire, explosion, etc, that I need to consider?
